Our History

The Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association was chartered on April 7, 1986 with 22 charter members. There were an additional 24 members admitted, making 46 total, before charter membership was closed. The Association meets every other month for one afternoon at the Training Academy in Donelson, TN. We also have a spring conference and a fall conference each year. The fall conference location is in East Tennessee. The spring conference location is rotated between Middle and West Tennessee. The locations for the conferences are set on a year by year basis by the executive board.

The primary objective of the Association is to bring together the training officers of law enforcement agencies across the state of Tennessee for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas and to bring the best training to these officers to take back to their agencies.

Since chartered in 1986 the association has grown from its original 46 members to well over 300 members.

The Association has a strong working relationship with the Tennessee Post Commission as well as the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy.
